No way to determine if system is working when car is parked.

Coverage for some systems is not complete in every state or every part of a state. (i.e. Sometimes not in every city or county of a state. Coverage maybe in larger cities only of a state. Check coverage area.)

Car has to stolen before you know system works properly.

Some systems can have overall range effected by weather,. (i.e. heavy snow.)

You have to know that the car is stolen on some systems before the system can be turned on to track the vehicle.(This may take hours or days before you find out if your car has been stolen.Then the system is turned on and it takes time to be found. Some areas require that you file a report at the police station before they turn the system on.)

If the vehicle is found and is stripped for parts, it can weeks or months to repair the vehicle before it is returned. Most insurance companies have a limited time frame in which they pay for a rental car, after that you must pay for the car rental. Also, lease payments or monthly car payments as well as insurance payments must be paid.
