The Alternative® Glass Etching is part of the AL-1B, AL-1P and AL-1LP Systems. Our Etching System provides instant identification at our national Registration Computer System to determine the owner of the vehicle. Our system has our 800 number and an unique Personal Identification Number Etched on 6 panes of glass in your vehicle. While some systems etch only part of VIN Number or a random number with no 800 number to call, our system identifies only the owner of the vehicle. Why etch the glass if the owner cannot be identified? Law enforcement officials encourage Etching as preventive as well and an identification system that should be used to deter theft. If a thief sees the glass etching, he knows that he will be unable to sell the glass for parts. If he wants to take the doors apart, he must take the glass out first so it cannot be identified. Imagine if an autobody shop placed a replacement piece of glass in your car and it had an 800 number on it. Wouldn't you call the number and find out what it meant?
